Vines have spread out over the slopes of Pons, one of the oldest towns in Charente Maritime, since the 3rd century. Ideally situated at the confluence of the Seugne and the Soute rivers, this natural headland was the home to some of the biggest Celtic and Roman civilisations. Pons rapidly built up a commercial reputation around the 3 still standing bridges built by the Romans. It is in this unique place, cradle of the Saintonge region, that men came together to trade salt and wine around the waterways…
The LEPONTIS range of wines was created by Jean-Michel NAUD, a passionate oenologist who is the fourth generation of Charentais wine producers in the family. His desire was to highlight both winegrowing savoir-faire and the traditional grape varieties of the region. In the Charentes, land of excellence thanks to the white grape production, we start out with a double selection: choosing the best grapes from the best plots of our wine growing partners’ vineyards before the vinification which will take place in our winery. We pay a special attention to reveal what we believe is most important: the original aromatic flavour of our grape varieties. With the LEPONTIS range, we aim to offer high quality modern wines for sharing with family and friends – inspired by our beautiful Charentes region.
